Instructions on installing a neo angle shower kit
Step 1: Inspecting the neo angle shower kit contents
Every neo angle shower kit should include the shower base, glass walls, a glass door, wall panels and wall studs. Check to see that your kit contains all the materials and pieces listed on the instruction manual. If not, please contact the manufacturer or return/exchange the kit at the location of purchase.
Step 2: Installing the Floor Drain
Note: Before installing a new drainpipe, check local building codes.
Before the shower base can be installed, a floor-drain strainer and drainpipe needs to be installed. You will need to place the gasket onto the stem of the drain’s top section. The stem gets inserted into the base. Finally, the lower section of the drain gets screwed onto the stem from below.
A pipe tailpiece is attached to the floor drain stem, usually with cement. Once the base has been put in its place, the tailpiece can be attached to the plumbing.
Step 3: Installing the Base
Place the shower base on top of a thick layer of drywall compound, which will provide a solid non-slip footing for the shower. Make sure to place the base before the compound dries.
Tips:
- If the floor is irregular, make sure to provide a level support for mounting purposes by shimming the entire base. There should be no spring or bounce in the base
- Before installing the wedge retainer the base should be level and all water should drain away. If there is any water pooling, drain is not installed properly. Drainage can easily be tested by making a temporary seal out of tape around the drain and pouring a couple of cups of water through the drain.
Step 4: Installing Wall Panels
The first wall panel should be placed with extra care. It includes a corner piece and needs to be positioned very level. The placement of the remaining part of the shower depends on this corner wall panel.
The panel can be fastened with roofing nails.
Before placing the second wall panel, measure the location of the showered. Use these dimensions and to bore holes for the showered plumbing in the second wall panel. A good tip is to place a piece of wood bedding the panel to keep the drill from breaking through and damaging the plastic.
After holes have been made, the second wall can be placed. It should easily slide into place and connect with the plastic fittings. Secure the wall to the wall studs with nails, just as was done for the first wall panel.
Attach the shower head.
Step 5: Finishing the Glass
Attach and secure the glass holdings channels to the wall panels; then add edging and trim if necessary.
Follow the kit instructions of installing the shower door.
Step 6: Finishing the bathroom walls
Place high quality moisture-resistant drywall on the plastic.
